How do I setup Outlook Express for e-mail?

1.        Open Outlook Express by double-clicking the Outlook Express icon on your desktop

2.        The first time you start Outlook Express the Internet Connection Wizard will run. Select Create a new Internet mail account and click Next to continue

3.        On the Your Name screen type in your name as you would like it to appear on your outgoing e-mail messages and click Next to continue

4.        Type in your @copsinkilts.com e-mail address on the Internet E-mail Address screen. Click Next to continue

5.        On the E-mail Server Names screen, select POP3 from the drop down list. In the space provided below Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server:, enter mail.copsinkilts.com . Type in mail.copsinkilts.com as your Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: and click Next to continue

6.        On the Internet Mail Logon screen, type in your CopsInKilts user name in the field titled Account name:. Your user name is everything leading up to, but not including the @copsinkilts.com part of your e-mail address. For example, if your e-mail address is first.last@copsinkilts.com , you would enter first.last as your Account name:. In the Password: field, enter in your CopsInKilts assigned password. If you do not wish to enter your password every time you check your e-mail, put a check in the box labeled Remember password. Click Next to continue

7.        Congratulations, you have now set up Outlook Express as your e-mail program. Click Finish to begin sending and receiving e-mail

How do I setup Outlook 2000 for E-mail?

1.        Open Outlook 2000 by double-clicking the Outlook icon on your desktop

2.        The first time you start Outlook the Outlook 2000 Startup wizard will run. Click Next to continue

3.        On the E-mail Upgrade Options screen, select None of the above and click Next

4.        On the E-mail Service Options screen, select Internet Only and click next

5.        You may receive a warning message similar to the one below. If you do, click Yes

6.        In the space provided next to Display Name:, type in your name and then click Next

7.        In the space provided next to E-mail Address:, type in your @copsinkilts.com e-mail address and click Next

8.        On the E-mail Server Names screen make sure you select POP3 from the drop-down list. Type in mail.copsinkilts.com as your Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server: and mail.copsinkilts.com as your Outgoing mail (SMTP) server. Click Next to continue

9.        In the Account name field, enter your CopsInKilts user name. If you had an e-mail address of first.last@copsinkilts.com , you would enter first.last as your Account name. Type your password in the space provided, and put a check in the box labelled Remember password if you don't want to enter your password every time you check your mail. Click Next to continue

10.     On the Internet Connection Wizard screen, select Connect using my local area network (LAN) and click Next

11.     You have now finished setting up Outlook 2000 as your CopsInKilts e-mail client. Click Finish to start using Outlook

How do I setup Outlook 2002 for E-mail?

1.        To open Outlook 2002 double-click the Microsoft Outlook icon on your desktop

2.        If this is the first time using Outlook, the Outlook 2002 Startup wizard will start. Click Next to continue

3.        Select Yes on the E-mail Accounts screen, and click Next

4.        For Server Type select POP3 and click Next to continue

5.        On the Internet E-mail Settings (POP3) page you will need to fill in your information for each of the six fields. For Your Name type in your name, for E-mail Address type in your CopsInKilts provided e-mail address. In the User Name field type in your CopsInKilts user name (which is the part before @copsinkilts.com in your e-mail address) and in the Password field type in your password. For Incoming mail server (POP3) type in mail.copsinkilts.com . For Outgoing mail server (SMTP) type in mail.copsinkilts.com . When each of the six fields have been filled, click the Test Account Settings ... button

6.        If everything was entered correctly, you will see a screen similar to the one below. If anything shows up as Failed, return to the previous window and double-check your settings

7.        At this point you have finished setting up Outlook 2002 and need to click the Finish button

How do I setup Outlook 2003 for E-mail?

1.        To open Outlook 2003 double-click the Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 icon on your desktop

2.        If the E-mail Accounts wizard doesn't launch on it's own, select Tools from the top menu, and E-mail Accounts... from the drop-down list

3.        Select Add a new e-mail account and click Next to continue

4.        On the Server Type screen, select POP3 and then click Next to continue

5.        On the Internet E-mail Settings (POP3) page you will need to fill in your information for each of the six fields. For Your Name type in your name, for E-mail Address type in your CopsInKilts provided e-mail address. In the User Name field type in your CopsInKilts user name (which is the part before @copsinkilts.com in your e-mail address) and in the Password field type in your password. For Incoming mail server (POP3) type in mail.copsinkilts.com . For Outgoing mail server (SMTP) type in mail.copsinkilts.com . When each of the six fields have been filled, click the Test Account Settings ... button

6.        If anything shows up as Failed, return to the previous window and double-check your settings

7.        At this point you have finished setting up Outlook 2002 and need to click the Finish button. You may now begin to use Outlook 2003 to send and receive e-mail.

How do I setup Thunderbird for E-mail?

1.        After you have installed Thunderbird, open it by double clicking the Mozilla Thunderbird icon on your desktop.

2.        On the first Account Wizard screen, select Email Account and click Next

3.        Enter your name and Copsinkilts.com e-mail address in the spaces provided. Click Next.

4.        Select POP as the type of incoming mail server. In the Incoming Server: field, enter mail.copsinkilts.com . In the Outgoing Server: field, enter mail.copsinkilts.com . Click Next to continue.

5.        Your Incoming and Outgoing User Name should already be entered, based on the e-mail address that you specified in step 3. Remember that your user name is everything leading up to, but not including, the @copsinkilts.com part of your e-mail address. Click Next to continue.

6.        By default, Thunderbird will assign your e-mail address as the Account Name. It's a good idea to leave your address as the name, because it will help you easily identify this profile should you ever need to make changes. Click Next to continue.

7.        On the last screen of the Account Wizard you will be presented with a list of your settings. Please take a moment to confirm that each setting is correct. Click Finish to begin using Thunderbird.

8.        The first time you check your e-mail you will be presented with a password window. Enter your CopsInKilts assigned password in the space provided. If you wish to have Thunderbird remember your password so that you do not need to enter it each time you check your mail, place a check in the box labelled Use Password Manager to remember this password. Click OK.

9.        If you did opt to have the Password Manager save your password, an alert will appear giving you information about passwords. Click OK to go to your inbox.

10.     Because Thunderbird using outgoing mail authentication by default, the first time you send an e-mail, you will be asked for your SMTP password. This is exactly the same as your CopsInKilts incoming mail server password (and your Copsinkilts.com home page password). If you wish to have Thunderbird remember your password so that you do not need to enter it each time you send an e-mail, place a check in the box labelled Use Password Manager to remember this password.
